El Cerrito's name translates from Spanish into "The Little Hill," reflecting the spectacular views many homeowners enjoy. Largely developed in the 1920's when the old Cajon Road became U.S. Highway 80 or "El Cajon Boulevard”. Today, El Cerrito spans residences both north and south of El Cajon Boulevard and is bordered by 54th/Collwood Street to the West and sits between Talmadge to the west and parts of Rolando and the heart of the College area to the east.
El Cerrito truly has a little bit of everything to offer, from easy access to San Diego State University to the thriving El Cajon Boulevard commercial corridor, not to mention nearby schools, hospitals, historic neighborhoods, and a constantly growing selection of eclectic shops and eateries.
